F1 Mathematical Modeller (Maranello, Italy)
Acerca de este empleo
Descripción de empleo
Ferrari has a most desirable track record, record results and confirmed as one of the “World’s most powerful brands”. And our F1 team, Scuderia Ferrari, represents the pinnacle of racing excellence, and innovation for performance.
In order to support the Ferrari F1 racing team for our current and future developments and innovations, we are looking to appoint an experienced Mathematical Modeller (Maranello/Italy based).
Member of the Performance Software F1 team, the team group tackles interesting but difficult analysis problems in collaboration with other departments, including aerodynamics and race strategy. A range of techniques are used depending on the problem, but the output is typically MATLAB code, discussion with other engineers, and sometimes a technical report.
Some examples of previous projects include developing computationally efficient probabilistic race simulations to determine optimum race strategy, using machine learning techniques to model the aerodynamic behaviour of the car from wind tunnel measurements, and writing and operating interactive software for modelling tyre degradation live during races.

In order to succeed in this challenging role, we are looking for a graduate with First class degree in engineering, physics, mathematics (or a related numerate discipline) with outstanding mathematical, physical and statistical intuition.
You will have at least 4 years’ professional work experience gained in a challenging environment where accuracy and delivery are key. The ability to (learn to) write clear, well-designed MATLAB code, and further study or experience in machine-learning would be an advantage, as would previous experience in the development of MATLAB algorithms and analysis tools.
In Ferrari we can expect you to be capable of thinking analytical, target-oriented and highly structured, being clearly communicative. Fluency in English is a must-have, a good level of Italian an advantage for your best local integration,
and Ferrari specifically appreciates you have experience outside your country of origin as part of your multicultural experience.
